Since the 2027/2028 school year, our preschool preparatory year has been part of the Maple Bear Brno kindergarten. It builds on the experience of our previous zero year and preserves its strengths: bilingual environment, active learning, individual approach and targeted preparation for school entry.
We are a bilingual kindergarten and elementary school located in the modern Nová Zbrojovka complex at Lazaretní 9, Brno. We are part of the international Maple Bear network, but at the same time we stand firmly in the Czech environment and build on the Czech education system.
Our goal is to combine solid knowledge foundations, quality Czech and natural English with teaching in which children and students are not just listeners. They ask, try, create, discuss, work with aids, experiment, and learn to use knowledge in real situations.
For parents, this means that they do not have to choose between Czech basics, English and a modern approach to education. At Maple Bear, they form one well-thought-out whole.
Children are an active part of the lesson
The Canadian approach builds on curiosity, activity, and understanding. Children and students observe, try, discuss, work with aids, and look for their own solutions. The teacher guides them to understand why things work.We teach in two languages
Czech and English naturally intertwine throughout the day. Children and students use them when learning, communicating, and working together. At the same time, we purposefully develop quality Czech, text comprehension, and solid Czech foundations.Children truly experience learning firsthand
In teaching, we use projects, experiments, practical tasks, aids, movement, and work in smaller groups. Children and pupils can compile, measure, compare, or explain the new principle in their own words. This gives the curriculum a specific meaning.We develop skills for life
In addition to knowledge, we develop critical thinking, communication, cooperation, creativity, independence, and work with emotions. Children and students learn to formulate opinions, listen to others, work with mistakes, and look for solutions.We connect knowledge with the real world
We connect topics with other educational areas and everyday life. Children and students look for connections, explain their own procedures, and use what they already know in new situations. Learning does not stop at facts.We combine the best of both approaches
We connect the Czech education system with the principles of the Canadian approach. Children and students thus gain a solid Czech foundation, experience with active learning, two languages, and an open view of the world.A safe and stimulating environment in which children gradually gain independence, learn to communicate their needs, and naturally discover the world in Czech and English.
We give children time to develop a relationship with teachers, orient themselves in the daily rhythm and gain confidence in a new environment. We support each child according to their age, personality and current needs.
Kindergarten also includes a preschool preparatory year. In it, children develop independence, communication, cooperation, perseverance and skills important for a smooth transition to school.
We connect the Czech FEP with the principles of Canadian education and bilingual teaching. Students learn Czech and English, actively explore the world, and develop academically and personally.
Teaching is gradually adapted to the age and needs of pupils. From solid foundations, we lead them to greater independence, responsibility, curiosity, and trust in their own abilities.
In addition to knowledge, we develop critical thinking, communication, cooperation, working with emotions and the ability to solve problems. We want students to be prepared not only for further study, but also for real life.
